I just put a new set of Trojan 27TM Deep Cycle batteries in the coach. These batteries are not listed as "Maintence Free", so I am assuming I need to continue my monthly battery checks and maintenance.

The problem is, these batteries do not have the round vent caps over each cell like the old Interstate batteries had. There are 2 rectangular covers on the top like you would find on a sealed battery.

Can anyone tell me how to check the water level in these batteries? The maintenance guide I downloaded from the Trojan website talks about maintenance, but does not talk about how to gain access to the cells.

Thanks,

Not sure about your particular battery, but generally speaking when you pry off each one of those rectangular covers you'll expose 3 of the holes at the top of the cells. Just bring the water level up to the bottom edge of the little tube you can see from the top of the battery and you should be all set.

Ron, look along the edge of that rectangular cover. You should see a little slot to stick a flat screw driver in to pry it up and will expose the 3 fill holes.
