First, the installation was very straight forward. The steering arm took about 45 minutes, and running the electrical about 1 hour. I had it professionally done as I do not trust myself on critical areas of the coach.

We just completed a 1000 mile trip with cross winds about 20 mph with higher gusts. This spring I can really put it to the test when our West Texas winds kick up. I must say, this unit is worth every penny. Just hold down the switch for a few seconds and the pressure on the steering wheel is neutral. Don't get me wrong, you still have to adjust for gusts. TruCenter also neutralizes the effects of crowned roads. I do not understand why this is not standard equiptment or at least an option on new coaches. We will be making a 3000 mile trip in Jan. If any of my opions change I will reportit at that time. As for blowout protection, I hope I never find out.

What was happening to cause you to install TruCenter?

We have an 08 Tour.

Also how much did it cost and where did you get the work done?

Thanks!

To answer the first question. I wanted the TruCenter to relieve the wheel pressure caused by crosswinds. In West Texas we almost always have wind 20-40 mph. It only changes direction, but, for somereason, always across. This causes a constant pull on the wheel, which becomes tiring after several hours. Also, crowned roads create much the same pull only to a lesser degree. The added bonus is the blowout protection.

I bought the TruCenter from RV Upgrades for about $795.00 plus $75.00 for the bracket. It was installed by my local mechanic, however, after watching the install, I think anyone with basic skills could install the unit. There is a video on RV Upgrades web site that demonstrates a typical install.

I will be making another trip in January of about 3000 miles. If there is any change to report, I will post it to the forum.

While I can't speak to the Tour, I installed the first generation Tru Center on my Journey and there was a marked improvement in straight-line tracking and the ability to make adjustments when there is a constant wind from the side was helpful. Mine was recalled and, due to the delay (nearly 2 years) for the new-and-improved version, I replaced it with the Safe-T-Steer. I was primarily interested in some stability in case of a blow out and the Safe-T-Steer works fine but adjustable feature of the Tru Center was very nice.

It was fairly simple to install....just bolt it on. It took longer to route the wire and install the push-button on the dash.
