I posted a while ago about a "stop engine/ check engine" warning light that continually went off whenever I went up a steep grade in the MH. After stopping and checking a dozen times (fluid levels, oil levels, air filters ect...) I found nothing. The techs at the CAT service center said it was a dirty selanoid. Cleaned it and gave the coach back to me. On the trip home, the same warning goes off. (thank goodness they are only 30 miles away)
After connecting to the computer when I got back it indicates that the warning is a "turbo boost" problem. This time instead of cleaning the selanoid they replace it. Same thing during the test ride. Checked the turbo, checked the waste gate all seemed fine. The coach runs great, has good power and seems to not show any affects in driving from this "error code".
Today the tech tells me that he talked with a big mucky muck from CAT corporate who tells him to check the waste gate again because they had experienced "paint chips" that clogged it and could be the cause of the problem. It's not that the turbo is not kicking in, it is staying on when I don't need it reducing mileage. If that is not it then they are going to replace the turbo!!!! I asked him to first check all the grounds to see if one may be loose which many times causes these computer glitches. Any thoughts from others on here.
