Started to remove the old 32 inch CRT TV in the basement storage area yesterday (to be replaced by a freezer) and have run into a bit of a roadblock. There are two studs R&L at the top securing the TV chassis to the swing mount using two nuts on either side of a bracket. On the right side the rear nut comes out fine, but because of the bracket it's impossible to get either the rear nut or the thumb nut off. Has anyone else successfully pulled this TV - it appears to me the only way is to remove the entire TV swing arm that the TV chassis sits on but I gotta believe, due to the weight involved there must be another way. Special tool maybe? You can see the stud I am referring to in the second picture - the rear nut is off, but due to the angle you can't see the rear nut behind the bracket. Any help or ideas would be appreciated (especially from someone who has already pulled this TV!)

Turns out, though you can't see it in the picture the stud is threaded, and you need only a flat screwdriver to turn in and loosen the read nut. TV popped out easily after that and the removal of the rest of the swing arm and brackets took only a couple minutes. Perfect space for a freezer.

I hope you don't mind me asking but I am planning to put a TV in my 05 Journey and am wondering if the mounting bracket and hardware you are taking out would fit my coach? Do you plan to dispose of your old mount?

Scott, good timing, you are in luck as I have the swing mount and brackets for the swing mechanism sitting on my garage floor and would be happy to let you have all of it for the price of shipping (I am in S Cal). The only thing I can't provide are the base plates for the swing arm, hydraulic in-out mechanism and the stop bracket (which holds the arm and TV in place when the TV is stored). These would be pretty easy to fabricate as they are only plates that bolt to the bottom of the cargo bay - if you are interested I'll take a picture of the bay to send to you so you can see how they are located.

Remember, tho, this swing am was built to hold a 50 lb 27 inch Sony trinitron tube type TV, although you could probably modify to carry a flat screen.

Let me know - send me a PM and we can finish the discussions via pm or direct email.

Phil
