My question is for other 2002 Ultimate Advantage owners on a Spartan Mountain Master Chassis does your restriction gauge read 15" when a new filter is installed. I have replaced my ECCO Air cleaner (0594-HH2) 3 times, after the restriction Gauge reaches 18" The Cummins manual says mileage will start to suffer at 18 and to replace at 25" I am told that the paper starts 2 break down after a couple of years. I am wondering if the filter which is around 18 inches is to small for the ISC 350

I finally replaced my airfilter last year. It was the original. The air filter guage never registered over 15".

Inspection of the filter revealed that it was still filtering, but had water stains.

I measure airfilter effectiveness based on fuel economy. Over the 7 years we've had the coach and the 6 years with the old filter, fuel economy remained consistent. There was no measureable difference after I changed the filter.

I think overall, I don't trust those vacuum guages. Sounds like yours is really sensitive and mine is dense as a rock.

Thanks Jim. What mileage are you getting? I am averaging 7.23 MPUSG overall towing 6,000 lb toad (over 30,000 miles incl five 4,000 mile return trips between Arizona Nevada, Oregon, Washington, BC) Have seen 9.5 on the flats and 6.33 in the mountains

I'm getting between 7.85 and 8.25 towing 4500lbs here on the east coast. Our recent trip from Virginia to Illinois and back showed 7.75 (doing 65mph). Of course, had to go over the mountains both ways.

Like you, our trip out to Vegas a couple of times showed 9.5 (heck of a tail wind) on the plains and 5.5 (up and down the Black Hills and the Rockies).

I've also noted fuel differences too. Don't care much for Flying J diesel (doesn't seem to get me the mpg). Like Pilot and T/A and Sunoco.

Cummin's told me to ignore those gauges. We all have them and they don't work.

Interesting comments on fuel economy. We just bought our 2002 Ultimate Advantage withthe Cummins 350 and have traveled less than 200 miles so far, so we've been wondering what to expect.

Yep, what UA40J says.........same here.
Hey Steve, try disconnecting the vacuum line from the filter gauge and see what it registers. I think those gauges are meaningless.

The Last time it reset to 0. It appears my mileage is about a 1/4 mpg less than the rest; however I noticed that the last trip mileage was slightly higher after I got the actuator replaced. We will be heading to Arizona in 2 weeks so I will be able to check this out.

Steve
