After reading previous threads about noisy or continuous running vacuum pumps, we checked out our 2003 Horizon today and found that the pump will not build vacuum and shut off with the heater/AC control knob in the off position. In all other positions it seems that all the shutters and doors operate properly by vacuum as it should, and the pump does shut down as it should. But with the heater/AC knob in the off position, the pump runs continually. It tells me that there is a vacuum leak when it is in the off position only. Where would I look for this problem?

Perhaps someone will come along with more exact info for you. But, in my experience you will see several very small vacuum lines coming from the back of the switch. Each of the lines is a different color. You would have to trace each one unless you can find info defining each color. Other than that check every vacuum line you can find particularly the molded fittings..........they seem prone to cracking and leaking..

I just dealt with this problem a week ago in my Journey. Pump not shutting off in the "OFF" position. I found a blue hose under the "hood" that goes behind the passenger side headlight to one of the vaccuum door motors. The hose had pin hole leaks in it. $2.50 worth of hose fixed it.

You can reach the hose from the ground. Maybe you will be lucky and it will be one of these easy ones.
