Vanity sink stopper removal, 2004 Meridian/Journey

I've tried to remove the sink stopper in the vanity sink without any success. Usually these things lift straight up, twist and lift, or have something holding it in place down under the sink. So far I can't see or find out what is holding it in place. It goes up and down with the plunger handle between the water faucet handles but that's as far as it will move.

Any help on removing it? Thanks.

If you look at the plunger rod under the sink, you will notice that it connects to a rod that goes into the drain. There is a nut that holds the rod in place. Remove the nut and the rod will come out. The rod will protrude into the drain about an inch and engage a slot in the sink drain. Hope you can understand this.

Thanks jgore - Sounds very easy, and your explanation is very easy to understand. Have seen some home sinks equipped this way. Will take a look under my sink.
