All I know is I have a 2004 Adventurer with 19.5 wheels and it is a W-20 chassis.

just as I suspected. thank you for confirming that, Mike.

To summarize, the various Workhorse RV chassis can be identified as follows:

Sixth Vin position character "6" means the chassis is a W-20, W-21, or W-22.
Sixth Vin position character "A" means the chassis is a W-24 or a W-25.5
Sixth Vin position character "5" means the chassis is a P-32
Sixth Vin position character "F" means the chassis is an R-26, aka, UFO
Sixth Vin position character "E" means the chassis is a W-16 or W-18.
Sixth Vin position character "9" means the chassis is an R-20 (RDP)

Now, the MODEL numbers....uh, that's a whole different story. Basically it is the LAST 2 digits that tell the GVWR and the three numbers preceeding them are a code number specific to the length of the wheel base (as built by WCC, not necessarally the same as your coach since "some" coach builders modify them).

A freind of mine just bought a 2005 36ft.MH with a 2004 w22 chassis and it has 19.5 tires on it. He has registered it with work horse and it shows it to be a w22.

That confirms what I posted upthread in post # 16. I don't know the quantity of W-22s running on 19.5 tires, but they are out there. Your friends vin # obviously has a "6" in the sixth position....and I bet his model # is Pxxx22. The P might be a W, but I doubt it. I think that came later. Ed

SR, You know the only difference between a 20 & a 22 is the tire rating. A 20 has a 19" tire with an F rating and a 22 on 19" tires will have a G rating. That's it in a nutshell. Everything else is the same.

In 2003 when I first saw a 38G Adventurer on 22.5" tires it was love at 1st sight. That said, there was another 38G on 19.5" tires on the lot. You should see what a 38'11" motorhome looks like on 19.5" tires .... it's too funny looking. It's almost like seeing the Jolly Green Giant in baby booties.

Doesn't Workhorse contact everyone when they purchase a new or used WH chassis vehicle? I bought one in April that didnt have the brake recall performed and expected I would be hearing from them by now...

Chris, Give me the last 8 digits of your VIN# and I can check to see if you are listed as the owner of record. How's that?

They did not contact me when we purchased our used Winnebago in November of 2010. I knew that the brake recall was in place when I purchased. Then after the owner data got switched over at Workhorse I could see the past and present recalls.

I like the job that they do with their information on the website, along with the information here by the more then knowledgeable members.

Chris
CHRIS: I'm sure DriVer can get you LOTS of info after you provide the last 8 of the vin....but, just so you know, the recall is for ALL the W-20, W-21, & W-22 chassis ever built, no matter "who" is the current owner.

You do NOT need any correspondence from WCC in order to get the recall completed at an ASC. Hopefully you can find a "SELECT" service center near you and get it done soon. No need to wait on ANY paperwork! Ed

This is exactly what I don't like about forums. In the good old days, men could take off their shirts, grab a beer, and beat on each other until the truth came out. Now, its a sanctimonious game of one-upmanship won by whoever has the best access to the latest information. That's why web-weenies armed with Google are now at the top of the food chain. On that note, I have to go check Google to see if I misspelled "one-upmanship". Keep it coming.

Jack
