I have a couple of the string retainers for the window shades that are loose on the walls. The sheet metal screws were originally installed directly into the wall, but over time, the holes have enlarged and the screws will not tighten.
I am not sure how thick the walls are or what is inside them. Has anyone else had this problem? What have you done to fix it? I thought of a toggle or moly screw, but I am afraid of it going through the wall to the outside.

I have used a small plastic moly to secure mine. I used one just a little larger than the screw hole and tapped in into the old hole flush with the wall. Worked well for me.

Michael ...
a) you can determine the thickness of your motorhome wall by opening both the glass and screen on one of your sidewall windows ...
b) winnebago has a type of string holder that has two parts: a fixed part and a tightening part. The fixed part is fastened to the wall with two screws. The tightening part has a screw in the middle that you loosen before rotating the tightening part.
My 1999 Adventurer had a string retainer with one screw in the middle and the whole retainer rotated. I had the same trouble with them as you describe ... I had plastic molly's in all of them ... they were a PIB ...
I suggest you contact Winnebago and replace yours with the the two part string retainers

I'll look into replacing them with the 2-piece style.
