Merry Christmas to all....

I drained all of the water from our motorhome (tank, water heater, outside shower, faucets, black & gray, etc) WITHOUT doing the winterizing routine. I did this just to be "safe" as it hasn't dipped into the 30's yet but I'm always cautious. (The coach stored next to mine suffered freeze damage last winter – mine didn't

Now here comes the dumb question: when I connect to city water, will the water heater fill automatically or do I need to do something else to fill it

Seth, Tiffany and Henry(MH Dog) Winick

Thanks for the reply.

Why should I have the water heater on when it's being filled

I can understand why it shouldn't be on when not filled – it'd burn-up

You will need to open a hot water faucet at a sink until water comes out, then you know it's full.

After the water heater is full, you can then turn it on.

I have never opened a faucet on mine. I just connect the water and let it fill on it's own, and at the same time create the air bubble it needs in the top of the tank. Then when I do turn on a faucet, I expect some air "bursts" before the water starts flowing smoothly. Then I know I can turn on the heater itself and make hot water out of the cold water in the tank!

If you have had your water heater on "By-Pass" for winterizing, be sure the valve on the heater is back on "Normal" position. It will then fill automatically.
