Water Heater Heat Exchanger valves?

I recently had to pull my hot water heater on my 2003 Journey DL to replace a small check valve. As part of the process I had to disconnect the engine coolant lines from the water heater heat exchanger. Anti-freeze, obviously, gushed everywhere.

Are there any cut off valves (that I can't find) that would allow me to cut off the flow of anti-freeze whilst I reconnect? I have the lines temporarily plugged but need to reconnect.

Get yourself a couple of hose pinch pliers. They work dandy, and when you need them, nothing else will do the job.

Hi, Harbor Freight, Pep Boys etc have coolant hose clamps that pinch the hoses for jobs like yours. I just use two pairs of Vise Grips or similar. Cheers.

Our 03 Journey had 2 valves that shut off the water gong forward. I think they were between the frame and transmission on each side.

The yellow handled valves in the frame rails are for the lines going to the heater core. The hoses for the motoraid hot water heater do not have valves and they are plumbed straight from the engine block to the u pipe on the water heater. Needle nose locking vise grips work well to pinch the hoses while you work on the system.
