rvGator, You need to change the diode. It's in a clear plastic tube and it's bent 90°. This device is what some guys will call a valve. It has 2 blade connectors on it.
You can buy the valve in an Atwood parts package that contains 2 valves. Look for these replacement parts at an RV parts retailer near you. That's takes care of the gas part of it.
Now the electric part of the WH is on a totally separate system and it does not use any of the devices that the LP side does. In the back of the unit there's an electric element that heats the water and that has to be replaced if yours is not working.
It is unlikely that the failure of one system whether electric or LP will cross over and disable the other. At this time I just got both of my systems back up and running. Heating water on electric is great especially if you have a 50A electric service.
