Bought my 2004 Ultimate Freedom about two months ago.
One thing that puzzles me is the color of the water fill hose. It is on a reel, of course, and the part of the hose that is exposed to the elements the most has turned what I would describe as an orange color. It is darker orange at the end and gradually tapers lighter in color to the original white for the part on the reel that never sees the light of day.
I have had MHs several years and never seen this before. I haven't tried to clean it yet, so I don't know the possibility.
Any experience with this? It IS ugly, but the hose itself is in good shape, and I hate to buy another if not necessary.

Rust? Inside or out? Will it rub off? Interesting!

Iron in the water does that.

Could be, but it appears to be in the outside surface of the hose.

I have a 2005 Horizon we bought new with the same hose reel. Mine is also discolored as you described. I attributed the discoloration to a shower leak we had when I neglected to re-calk the faucet. Our shower is directly above the water hose reel and I figured the the orange color came from the preservatives used in the internal plywood.
I never got around to trying to clean up the hose. If you're successful at cleaning it up, whatever it is, I'd like to know what you did.

I just bought the unit, so I don't know much about the history except the owner lived in PA and visited FL in the winter. He is now deceased.

I wrote to Glendinning, the maker of the hose reel, and asked their opinion. Here is their reply:
"I have seen this with hoses that are under long time exposure to UV rays.
There is also the possibility of discoloration from harsh cleaners or
bleach. Do you notice any difference in the flexibility of the hose, between
the discolored area and clean area? Occasionally I get a report of a slight
loss in the pliability of the hose, when repeatedly cleaned with chlorine or
chlorine based products."
Any comments on this?
