water inlet valve

hi..i need to replace the fresh water inlet valve on my 2001 itasca suncruiser..would appreciate advice if anyone has done this and if a replacement other than a winnebago part can be used..it has 2 screws holding the faceplate and it looks like when they are removed ,the valve assembly can be unscrewed from the pipe behind..can this be done without removing the cover over the entire plumbing?..any danger of breaking something when removing the valve that would cause real problems?..thanks..jim..

We replaced ours several years ago. We did end using a Winnebago part as the screw configuration was different for the other brands we found. Actually very easy and completely solved our hook-up problem.

I just replaced mine (check valve was leaking) while at an RV park in Myrtle Beach. It was easy to do. I just bought a new water inlet assembly (with the check valve already attached) from the RV parts store at the park. The only difference was the flange on the replacement assembly was drilled for 3 screws while the OEM had only two screws. I just used 3 screws to mount the new on. Took longer to remove the access panel than replacing the valve.

i checked winnebago parts catalog and they list both a female pipe thread part and a male pipe thread part..does this refer to how it attaches behind the panel and if so, can i determine which one i need without taking the old one out?..thanks..jim..

I had a problem and loosened the panel and then very gently held it open with a block of wood so I could see behind the panel --- in my case it was a female threaded replacement that I needed. If you call Winny, they can probably tell you what you have on your MH.

I have replaced mine and on my 38J I can reach around behind the panel to unscrew the pipe. I did not have to loosen or remove the panel.
