Our water pump was working fine until a few days ago. My wife used it in the morning to shower and then turned off the pump switch - which is routine.
(2004 Adventurer 33V with a full tank of water and a clean strainer.) Now it's my turn for a shower. I hit the switch - nothing. No pump, nor a light on the switch :~(

I immediately checked the house battery & chassis battery voltage. Both were at 12 volts. I then started the motorhome engine and let it run for five minutes (thinking it was a low voltage problem.) I retried the pump switch again - nothing.

I then started the generator and let it run for a few minutes. I tried the pump switch again and it worked :~) When I shut the generator off and tried the pump again, it worked.

We then drove home to and the pump still works. We dry camp a lot and now I'm worried that it will fail when we least expect it.

Someone mentioned that the problem could be a bad micro switch wired somewhere in-line with the pump. I did a visual inspection and could not find one. (The wires from the pump run behind the furnace and are not visible.) I also looked on-line for a wiring diagram but was unsuccessful.

Has anyone has a similar experience with pump failure?

Dan,

This is just a thought, but there are 2 pump switches, and if the "other" one, that is, the one in the water-utility compartment, is not making a good connection, your system, wouldn't work properly.

Try flipping that outside compartment switch to the opposite position from where it is, then do the same with the inside switch. (I think some models have a 3rd switch in the toilet room, but not sure. If so, that would be worth a look too.) This will use the opposite terminals in the switches from the ones being used now. May or may not be of any help, but other than an intermittent fuse, it's all I can come up with. BTW, fuses sometimes ARE intermittent, and if that circuit is fused (instead of resettable breaker), replace it even if it looks good.

I believe Capt. Bill nailed it. If one of the switches is neither up nor down the system will not work. We have the same proble with 3 way switches in out stick built house.
Let us know how it turns out
