Water Pump Turns itself off at the switch

I've got a relatively new Class A Winnebago and the water pump turns itself off at the switch after a few minutes of non use. Is this normal? My previous RV water pump stayed energized and kept the pressure on the lines. I did a search in the forums and found no reference to this phenom. Thanks for any advice.

My Itasca has a pressure on demand pump. It stays off until a faucet is opened. When the faucet is turned off the pump should shut off in a few seconds.
