We have a 460 ford in our 1994 34ft Winnebago Vectra.
Just wondering if any Rv'er have or still run this engine with a 34 footer. And what type of mileagecould we expect. Our Maiden trip is coming in a June Looks to be around 3000 miles round trip. Try to figure expenses.

Just 2 old folks, 1 almost vinetage rig and 3 little dog heading North when the weather warms.

Figure on the low end, 6 MPG would be 500 gallons of fuel and on the high end 8 MPG would be 375 gallons of fuel.
$3.70 a gallon ... bring $1,400 to $1,900 with you...

I'm thinking the price per gallon for regular grade gas, will be far north of $4/gal; depending on where you go, it may be closer to $5. I hope I am wrong, but plan accordingly. Hopefully I am wrong, and you will have some of your budget left for the next trip.

on edit: Diane Sawyer in on ABC News right this minute, telling us that $6.00/gal is very possible by this summer. Yes, they are saying SIX DOLLARS per gal. This is insane and obscene.

Since that's a fuel-injection engine, the 5.5 - 7 range seems reasonable. We had a 26' Class C with a carb.-equipped 460 and we never saw better than 5.2 and it was down around 4 above about 1000 ft altitude.

Budget $1,700 t0 $2,000 for gas and be happy if it cost less.
For everything else budget $100 a day.
Enjoy the trip.

We had a 1995 Airstream with a throttle body 460 in a 34' class "A" and got 6.5 to 8.5 depending on terrain, wind and speed.
