We bought a new to us 2008 Sightseer 35j from a dealer in panama city FL this year. One thing hubby didn't do on the walk thru (not really seeing a need!) was open the couch to inspect/see the fold out bed. Now, 2 months after purchase while on a trip, we opened the couch to check it out & it clearly is a fold out couch, but unfolds to almost ground level & there is nothing else there! No air mattress, no regular mattress, etc. I seriously doubt we could get the dealer to order anything for us after the sale....but I was just curious what was there at delivery? We have bunks, so doubt we'd really need the couch as a bed - but may later decide to order a replacement.

thanks!
michelle

Did you get any type of detailed list from the dealer regarding what the coach contains (like "couch folds out to bed" or "hide-a-bed")? Even if you didn't I would certainly contact the dealer and take the tact that the dealer forgot the mattress. I would definitely not just let it go. On lots, coaches are "robbed" by salesmen to fill a need in a coach that is being sold, and salesmen often do this with the intention of "replacing" it. Note to self: whenever doing a walk through ALWAYS open every cupboard, move and operate EVERYTHING including appliances (microwave popcorn at least) and furniture. It isn't that everyone is "out to get you" or anything, but people forget and make mistakes; it's up to us to be certain we get what we paid for.

thanks for the post....we will certainly check out the couch if we upgrade later! I do intend to call our sales person and let them know the mattress is missing. Hopefully since they were so great to deal with, they'll make some attempt to correct the issue. Will update the results this week!

What you see is what you get on the couch. If I remember correctly it comes with a "throw" pillow. I have no idea how Winnebago intended anyone to sleep on it for more then a brief period. You might shop for an inflatable mattress but you will be on your own.

According to the the 2008 Sightseer Brochure the "Sofa(s) w/storage below, throw pillow, shelves (NA 29R)" was standard on the 35J and the "Sofa/Sleeper air mattress, throw pillow, shelf" was optional. I don't know whether they are the same sofa, but if you give Winnebago a call they should be able to tell you.
