What's the Life of House Batteries?

I have two 6V Exide GC-110 House batts. I'm told they are Heavy Duty (vs RD Regular Duty; and XHD Extra Heavy Duty). The batts are a little over four years old, have been well maintained (no dry plates) and have a Progressive Dynamics PD9245C converter. I do virtually no dry camping, aside from occasional power outages.

What's your take on longevity?

That's always a difficult question to answer. I depends on how deeply they have been discharged, how quickly they were charged, how much idle time they see and of course how well they're maintained. But they could realistically last another 3 to 4 years.

I have 4 t105s that are 8 yrs old and still going strong. Will replace them when one goes bad................ gool luck and keep using them.......

Well, house batteries typically last from 1-10 years,, Given the PDI 9245.. I"m guessing 8-10 years. However there are many things that can reduce that. But that is one of the very best converters on the market, well designed for those batteries, so 8-10 is not unreasonable with the kind of care you claim to give them.

Our Interstate U-2200's were put into service (we picked rig up) on June 26th 2002, so two days short of 9 years right now. They aren't quite as good as new but they still do the job.

We don't have one of the newer chargers with the float mode, etc. etc. but our house batteries are going on 9 years old. They still test good and work just fine. Our experience has been that they fail suddenly in that they work fine up to the moment they fail. There was no gradual deterioration on the last set. One morning we got up and nothing that needed 12 volt power like the fridge control panel and the lights would work. Sometime during the night one of the batteries gave up the ghost. No warning, no deterioration in performance, just here then gone.
