Hello,
How do I know if both compressors are running on a basement air unit, and under what circumstances does only one run ( and how do I tell which one it is?). I have a 30 amp system. My unit is a 2000 Itasca 35U.

Thanks,
bob

It's easy to tell from the ONEPLACE monitor if you're plugged into 30 amp. With 1 compressor it will display 16 - 18 amps, with both compressors running it will display 25 - 27 amps. Another way to tell is set the thermostat more than 4 degrees below the ambient temp then turn on the AC. Listen closely to the thermostat. After about 20 - 30 seconds you should hear a click and then hear the #1 compressor come on. After another 30 seconds you should hear another click and hear the second compressor start up.

Both compressors should run until the ambient temp in the coach is less than 2 degrees below the set point then the #2 compressor should cut out and the #1 will contunue until the set temp is met. On our coach #1 always starts first and #2 comes in if the above conditions are met. I'm not sure all coaches are wired the same. You can tell which one is the primary by opening the trim panel at the right rear of the coach and then the small panel on the AC. There are a series of LEDs showing which compressors are running
