Hello Experts,

Which Allision transmission is mated to the Cummins 300HP engine in the 2006 Winnebago Journey/Itasca Meridian SE 36' model. I am looking at these. Some dealers state a 5-spd while other state the transmission is a 6-spd. Anyone have any idea? Even Winnebagos info was ambiguous citing different GCWR for the different transmissions.

Appreciate any info and insight into this including the VIN decoding for the transmission in a vehicle.

Thank you

If you call Freightliner in Gaffney, SC with your VIN number they can give you the details of your chassis.

Call 800-385-4357 during normal office hours.

I'm pretty sure that the transmission that you have is the 5 speed 2500 MH Allison. That engine/transmission combination was standard for 2006 while the optional setup was the Cat C7 350 HP with the 6 speed 3000 MH Allison. As far as I know the SE model came only with the standard engine/transmission.

We have a 2006 Meridian 36GSE and it has the 5 speed transmission with a 300 cummins. A 2006 Meridian 36G has the 6 speed transmission with the 350 cummins. The SE's all have the same exterior and interior, but have various different options. For instance ours doesn't have the electric patio and over the door awnings where some do and ours has some options that others don't. Since purchasing ours I have googled this DP and they all look the same. I think Bronzemist is the paint color for the 06 SE. After getting ours I contacted Winnebago with our Vin# and they sent a sheet with all our options and standard equipment. That is how we learned exactly what our unit consisted of. Hope this helps. By the way we love ours!!!

Thanks for the responses. I do not have yet, but am looking at couple of this model. Floorplan looks very useful for our purposes. We'll see shortly if we'll be cruising in DP or still enjoying the heck out of our gasser. Winner either way!!!!

Good answer. Freightliner will tell you what transmission is in the coach if you give them the last 6 digits of the VIN,

All 2006 and 2007 SE's had the ISB and 5 speed 2500 series Allison tranny. I like mine.
