Whirlpool Gold Velos Microwave 'Died'

Microwave/convection with controls along bottom edge of door (model # GH7208XRS - 5) suddenly not working - all power dead. This model has been used in the Tour / Ellipse for a number of years.

Have good power at the plug - now looking for AC power line fuse. Appreciate any help on where its hidden and how to get to it.

Many thanks ...

Usually fuse is only accessible by removing whole metal cabinet on microwaves that I have had experience with. Maybe it is a safety thing, but there were sure not easily accessible. Good luck

You need to remove the entire cover to reach the interior as has been indicated. They also usually use Ceramic - not glass - 15 amp fuses so you should get a couple in advance if you plan to repair it yourself. If you are just going to remove the cover and just replace a fuse and you are "electrically smart" and know what not to touch, it should be a simple repair. Microwaves typically use large capacitors that are still likely charged so keep well away from them with anything conductive including your body!

As mentioned by others you're probably going to have to disassemble the front of the microwave to get at the power fuse. To do that you're probably going to have to remove the entire unit from the wall.

Once you have it on the bench inspect the fuse holder closely. We had a fuse go out in our Sharp microwave a couple times. The first time it was replaced the repairman didn't look closely at the holder. The holder was damaged enough that the replacement fuse only lasted 20 minutes. The second time it was removed he replaced the holder as well as the fuse. It's been working fine now for over 4 years.
