On a trip to FL, we had the wipers on and they suddenly stopped. Tried to troubleshoot, ended up with Rain X and it worked great. Messed around a few days later and the motor "wanted" to try to move and did a few times. Then I blew a relay selonoid, had that fixed but the wipers still won't work (separate incident or connected?????)

We thought we found the problem with the wiper relay box, so I replaced that (we had clicking in it). The new box came and still no wipers (clicking in the new box also).

So, is the problem in the control arm on the steering wheel, or is it the motor for the wipers? Help please, yes we have power to the wiper motor and the other functions on the control arm work (turn signals, cruise control)

What else can it be or what else should I check?

did you check the electric motor connector? clean the terminals and coat with dielectric grease.

We did check those connections, I will apply the dielectric grease after reading many of the other posts. The question I have is what is the clicking noise? Is it a relay switch??? I read another post that stated the motor has an internal switch, I am going to check that 2maro as well.

Any other ideas?

Had a similar "event" with our motorhome in April while traveling in torrential rain (and heavy snow in southeast Oregon) through Texas and further west. What we found out: the wiper motor itself was OK but the internal (within the motor, that is) intermittent switch was defective. We ended up replacing the whole motor (no way to service/replace the internal switch, we were told) and it seems to have solved the problem.

Unfortunately, those wiper motors are not readily available (have to be ordered) so we requested some kind of temporary solution to get us back home on what we had: short periods of wiper activity at the slowest intermittent speed, in between our gently shaking the wiper assemblies when the wipers "froze up." The advice: dismantle the wiper assembly for the passenger side so that the power from the motor might run the driver's side blade long enough to get us home. Fortunately, we didn't have to resort to that option since the rain (and snow) ceased as soon as we removed the passenger's side wiper assembly (one of those Murphy's Law situations)...

Good luck on this one!

So I clean the connections, greased them, and gave the motor the good old rubber mallet tap. The blades want to move so I helped them along a bit and suddenly they work again.

Now for the interesting part, they wont shut off now!!!!!!!!

So I messed around a bit and found that if I reversed the connection (3 separate wires) I was able to get them to stop, but now off is hi and hi is off, also the relay is now inactive.

So this tells me that; 1. the relay switch is bad 2. The internal switch as described in your incident is bad. 3 Or there is something else going on.

Anybody have this problem before.
