We are looking for the belt pulley for the cab air conditioner compressor in our 1999 Winnebago Adventurer - Diesel.

Freightliner have advised that we need to but a new compressor - seems a bit of a waste when all that is needed is the pulley.

Any ideas?

The part you require is called a compressor clutch assembly. It consists of a bracket that attaches to the compressor, the magnetic field coil itself (this is where a 12v. wire connector will attach) and the pulley that installs over that coil. My guess is that the entire assembly will need be replaced as its individual parts are probably not user servicable. You may want to call Freightliner again and ask for the part number of this mechanism for your coach. If you strike out there, try calling the engine manufacturer. The A/C compressor most likely already came mounted to the engine before it was dropped into Freightliner's chassis. That pulley assembly is part of the front end accessory drive system and the serpentine belt's length was sized with it at the engine manufacturers factory.

I had problems with ours;;. I drained. (no comment needed ) the freon out of it; Took the compressor off. Took it a auto/truck salvege yard The fellow looked at it went to the shalve picked one and said here it is. The new one was Over $350.00 his was under $100.00 .You guess which one I put on. To refill with. Which ever coolant you use is the cost . That can be well over $100.00 alone; unless you go to XXXXXX and buy it.

Probably not a help for you but for workhorse chassis owners try this site, Oemy's Web Site - Workhorse Parts Xref W Series I found an AC comp that interchanged with the factory workhorse part# on our 2005 Voyage, It was a perfect fit and I saved about 200.00 Our old unit had a bad clutch/pulley assy like yours but the only option was compressor replacement due to no clutch assemblies that were the same.
