I'm setting at Lazydays in Florida and they want $900 to remove the back cap to fix the air leaks in the basement air duct work. Can anyone with experience with this tell me who to call and how to get help with this from Winnebago?

In past posts I've heard of Winnebago covering this and anyone with details on it I'd sure appreciate hearing the specifics of your experiences.

I believe that $900 is not unreasonable given the labor required to RR the rear cap -- also, the expense of a trip to Forest City and possible motel stay, may be most costly.

Mine was leaking at the bottom elbow after AC was removed for repairs. I re wraped the junctions with sticky back foil tape that is made for AC work. Not an easy task but doable.

If leaking at the top, then rear cap removal is the only way to get to it. Like ChiefJohn said, $900 don't sound like much for that amount of work.

At the rear engine door on the passenger side their is a sheet metal panel where the door bumper is located. It can be removed by taking out 6 sheet metal screws. Remove the panel and you will have a good look at aproximately 3-4 feet of the air conditioner duct. Maybe you can locate and tape the leak if it is there.

I had mine repaired at Forest City. They repaired the split and reinforced it, replaced the thermostat and cleaned the evaporator for $540. Didn't remove back cap.
