I am looking at the Tour 40. It has a 450HP cummins engine. Anyone have any idea of what kind of fuel mileage I could expect?

It is a new coach so no left over from a previous owner type problems, that said, is it a coach I will be proud to own?

How is the Winnebago track record on dependablity and service?

Mileage depends on so many things. How fast you drive, how loaded you are, are you towing, are you drivin g the Rockies or across Kansas, etc. I would expect 7 - 8 mpg on average, but if you can afford a Tour the difference in mileage isn't enough to worry about. Most people only drive 6,000 miles a year. Winnebago is definitely in the higher tier of quality and they will service you at the factory which is a huge benefit. Enjoy!

Another great plus for Winnebago is that they have tons of information on line on their site. I have called them several times to ask a question and they can pull up everything that was originally built on your coach with their unit ID number. This allows them to help you right on the spot. They are I believe also the only manufacturer to host a huge rally every year right on their own grounds. IMHO they are tops and we are on our 2nd one with no problems other than a couple of very minor things which happens with all newly made complex items. Tour is a wonderful coach.

We are on our second Tour -- first was an 08 40TD (had over 3 years), current one (bought 4 months ago) is a 2010 42AD. Both had the Cummins 400hp engine. I averaged 8 mpg on the 08 over 35,000 miles. So far, the 2010 seems to be averaging slightly better, but we have only driven it about 3,000 miles so far. These averages include towing a car at about 55 - 60 mph.

We fulltime in the coach (going on 4 years) and therefore, use it everyday. I have been very impressed with the quality of each rig as well as the service we received on the rare occasions we needed it. One reason I think the Winnebago line does well is the level of engineering that goes into the design and production of the coach. Seems they build enough of them to really design parts to fit well and work well.

I think you will like the Tour -- we sure have.

I generally do the speed limit (65-75mph) with my Tour 40TD 400hp and get about 6.5mpg. I dream about getting 7mpg but also don't want to be a rolling roadblock on the highway.

The layouts of the Tours are great and very functional. Haven't had any problem with the coach but I have gone through 3 serpentine belts (one snapped for no reason, one snapped whent the alternator froze and the last one snapped with the AC compressor froze). Did have a exhaust manifold leak that was fixed under warranty.
