Winnebago Itasca C27 AL (1978) Battery Compartment Question

Hi Folks,

I´m new at this Forum and I live in Germany. We bought ourselfs a Winnebago Itasca a few weeks ago. I have to do many Things to get this Beauty back on road again.

Actually I have a Problem with the batteries and the wiring. There is only 1 battery in the outside storage, located on the left side of the RV. I think there should be at least 2, but I only can see the Wiring for 1. There is a switch at the Instrument Panel, where I could swith from main to Aux battery, when I switch I can hear something like a "clack" from the left side of the RV. There should be a swith somewhere.

Can someone provide some info for this Problem? Where is the swith located and is it true, that only 1 battery is built in the left compartment? I think there should be 2.

Perhaps someone is able to provide a Picture?

Thanks alot

BR
Gerhard

Unfortunately, Winnebago's online wiring diagrams don't go back that far, but here's the 1978 Itasca Brochure which indicates that there is one chassis battery (my guess is under the front hood) and only one coach battery.

You may be able to get some more info by contacting Winnebago Owner Relations directly via email: or@winnebagoind.com .

Btw, you can register your vehicle with Winnebago at Second Owner Registration.
