Glad to hear about the Goodyear Endurance tires. I think I have at least a year to go before I need to change tire. I'll be very interested in the reviews. I wonder if they are being made in the USA. I'm really not too worried about that because there are some good quality Chinese tires.

Oh yes, and welcome to the thread Diane.

Winnebago now makes a 26 copy of the GD but no recliners however it does look better from the outside. Trouble is I can't find one in dealer stock..The cheapest I have found the Imagine 2600rb is $24,900 plus tax and a 400 buck doc fee which I'll arm wrestle away if I purchase.. So they were offering you about 8k for your trade in.. That's a tuff one to do... A month after buying my 2106 I thought about stepping up to a bigger Winnie until the dealer told me 10k is all they would allow me for trade .. Is there anything you can recall that you did not like about the 2600rb that I may be over looking? A 25k plus purchase is hard for me to do on something I'm really not sure how much I enjoy yet .
I bought a GD 2600RB last fall after looking for a pretty good while. After I bought mine Winnebego acquired GD and promptly came out with a copy (26RBSS) and I looked at the specs on it. It is a little heavier and the tank capacities are less then the Grand Design. You can see the 2600RB here and the 26RBSS here. The 26RBSS is listed at 8800 GVWR and the 2600RB is listed at 6995 GVWR. For me I see that as requiring a F250 to tow the 26RBSS while an F150 (which I already owned prior to buying a TT) can be used for the 2600RB. There are pluses and minuses for both models but if I were buying again I'd still choose the 2600RB. Good luck in your buying decision.

I just returned from a Winnebago dealer just outside of Atlanta..Yesterday I Spent time at a Grand Design dealer near Macon Georgia.. Hope I do not hurt any feeling by saying this but I'm disappointed.. The differerence between my 2016 Winnebago and the late 2017's is wow, not good.. Things that used to be finished in the basement storage isn't anymore, the outside front on my wrecked 2106 was flawless , the new ones are dull and wrinkly, They have began shiping them with cheap Insignia tv's instead of Jensen and a even worse brand of dvd player, The couch is also cheapened up. The white and silver gel coat colors are really dull and flawed, i.e.. All the stuff that was used as a selling point to me can't be anymore. Even the wheels are painted dull steel not mags like on my 2016. The newly delivered Grand Designs are no where near the quality of the ones sold just months ago..I did look at Winnebago's version of the Imagine 2600rb, the unloaded weight is less the the Grand Design and it is rated to carry a heavier load, no recliner option etc , They were asking about 28k for it, I was quoted 24,900 for the GD.. The two I looked at were soo sloped together compared to a few I saw just a fewe months ago..I may begin looking for a TT with the metal siding now, I think they Actually look better however most are really cheap inside .. I'm done ranting. So you guys who have purchased 2016 or early 2017 Winnebagos take care of them , You may not like what you have to replace them with if something happens..

Wow! sorry to hear about the slide in quality for Winnebago. I had been hearing rumors that weren't good plus our (trusted) local dealer stopped carrying them so I wondered what was up. I love our 2016 even more now than I used to...

Wow, what a great report but I sure am disappointed to hear what has happened to both lines of RVs. Thanks for all the effort on your report. Our 2014 is still in very good condition and I plan to keep it that way.
One feature that I didn't like about the 2600RB was that you could not get to the bedroom with the slide in.

Hahaha, yeah I've driven that one a lot, unfortunately.
The worst ones I have been on is I-287 from Amarillo to Dallas TX and l-90 across southeastern South Dakota.

I just avoid Kansas all together. LOL

I too am sorry to hear about the slide in quality of the new Winnebagos. I bought our 2016 2201DS after looking at different brands for 6 months. So far we are very pleased with our choice.

I have a 2600RB and you CAN get into the bathroom with the slide in.

If you reread my post that you turned red, I said bedroom, not bathroom.

The higher GVWR just tells me the 26RBSS has higher capacity axles and tires. If they truly are that similar, I can't imagine anything else giving that difference. I have not looked up the dry weight/hitch weight. If those are similar, then what you have with the new one is just a lot of payload capacity (not weight, specifically) which is certainly nice to have.

Curb weight is 6280, which is kind of high ... It is rated to carry over 2500 pounds. Guessing it has two 4 or 5000 pound rated axels with 15 inch tires.. For some reason 15's are usually rated higher than 16 or 17 ..Curb on the 2600GD is a few pounds under 6000 but only gives ya about 1500 pounds of cargo.. Could be the frame, axels tires or combo..Unless there is a big sale on beer 1500 pounds should be plenty.

I will probably look again , having 2 entry doors trumps the 2500rl with one.. Were you lucky enough to get a Jensen tv and dvd ??? The sales people told me Winnebago used what the had before switching to the Insignia tv and Connect dvd/radio..
