The solid topper really doesn't fold out of the way but could probaby be modified to do that. For the two of us there is adequate clothes closet and drawer space for a week but then a visit to a wash-a-teria (sp) would be required. Most camp grounds have these facilities. YMMV

We have no problem folding the bed up into couch mode with everything on the bed... sheets, pillows, foam egg rate topper, extra blanket.
The kids like to lay up there to watch tv.

My 2301 is a different floorplan, but we did a 3 week trip with both kids and had plenty of storage for clothes. In fact, I find our Minnie has more storage of all types than much bigger TTs we looked at.

Air mattress

Okay, I have a Minnie 2101 FBS. Fold out couch no U shaped dinette. The couch folded out for sleeping is 68" long. I thought an air mattress to put on it would eliminate the feeling of the crease in the middle. However, all air mattress if find are 72" long. The couch armrest are fixed and rise above the cushion. Width is not a problem.
I an open to suggestions. Any ideas from this rather creative group?

Thank, Flyline

Hi Flyline,

They make a "T" shaped foam insert that you can put between two single beds pushed together to make a double. Just cut it down to 68". Then buy a 1"-2" foam mattress for your coach cut to size and you are in business. Might be some way that the armrest bolts on inside, otherwise sleep on your side and fold your legs a little,, (if there are two of you it's called Spooning) or try a bolster pillow under your knees. It's supposed to be better for your back anyway.

Good Luck

This item is guaranteed to fix your fold out couch problem. It is a 3" memory foam mattress 73" by 37". Simply mark it and cut it to length with a sharp butcher knife. Put a twin bed fitted sheet on it and pin on the back side to make it fit.
I bought the queen size memory foam mattress for the bed and cut it to length. Makes the bed oh so comfortable.

Winter camping in a Minnie

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while. My wife and I are appreciative of all the information that this forum has offered so far.

We are curious if anyone has done any winter camping in any of the Minnies? I know we have a ways to go before winter, but we are getting closer to purchasing and considering the 2101 or the Lance 1985 (just because of the 4 Season rating). We would be camping in Colorado, Northern California or the Pacific Northwest.

Anything special need to be done to the Minnies to be able to use them in winter?

Thanks in advance,
TowEnvy

If you really want to do winter camping, go with a 4 season trailer with more insulation and double pane window and a heated underbelly. You can get by in a Minnie, but you will use a lot of propane for heat and deal with window condensation. So, look at the Lance. You may also want to look at an Arctic Fox or Nash trailer.

I have camped in below freezing temps with no problem.
The underbelly is enclosed and the heat is ducted through the floor, so no issues with the tanks freezing or the floor being cold.
But if you are camping in CO in the winter, an Arctic Fox might be better.

Just depends on how cold you are really going to go.

Thanks

Thanks for the bed/mattress suggestions! Now will try to find the foam.

As for the cold weather camping, I spent 2 nites out when temps went to 29 degrees. Not bitter cold, but stayed quite cozy in the trailer. Daytime temps went into the mid 50's so no extended cold weather.

Thanks again, Flyline.

Hi all! Went camping in the Big Wood Valley last week after the Memeorial day people left and had a great time. We were near Sun Valley, Idaho and world famous fly fishing in Silvercreek near Picabo, Idaho. I went fishing and caught nice fish and the wife got to go to the shops in Sun Valley.
Good time!
What did every one else do? Hope everybody is getting our and enjoying there Minnie.

Hey Flyline, that sounds fantastic! Thanks for keeping everyone honest around here LOL.

Unfortunately, I spent a couple hours in the hot GA sun washing and conditioning the roof of my Minnie. It's a job I like to limit to 2x a year. Started to see chalky residue on the sides after heavy rain, so I knew it was past time to git'r'done.

Trout fishing in Idaho sound much better!

How do you do your roof conditioning?

Get on the roof
Sweep the roof
Wash the roof (I use a boat/rv brush and rv or car washing soap)
Spray on a roof wash and conditioner from and rv store or many Walmarts, scrub and rinse.

You'll want to wash the awning and trailer sides too, because what comes off the roof is nasty.

We took a long Memorial Day weekend and went to Petit Jean State Park in north-central Arkansas for our wedding anniversary. Tornadoes threatened, but they went around us.

Nice to learn that the Jeep Wrangler can tow the 1801FB in the Ouachita Mountains satisfactorily. I was a little concerned about that.
