Winnebago service/parts nationwide a benefit?

As I continue to shop for that "perfect" RV, one of the draws to Winnebago is how they manufacture many of their own parts, and have a nationwide service and parts distribution system, compared to the semi-custom shops that make 10-50 coaches a year.
As owners, do you find that to be an advantage, or are you waiting just as long or paying just as much as if you had an RV full of generic parts?

Thanks very much. -Bill

IMHO there is no advantage as the vast majority of most coaches use "off the shelf" parts. In fact if their using too many custom parts that would be a disadvantage.
My experience is with Tiffin but I am sure Winnabago or Newmar are the same. For DIY items I can call Tiffin and have a part shipped out next day. Appliances are the same as what's at Best Buy or Sears and repair parts and service are easy to find. Tiffin is very good at authorizing other shops or mobile mechanics for warrenty work.
Winnebagos are fine but the idea tha they use custom made parts can be both good and bad. I would not use that as a deciding factor.

I needed a basement door for my 2001 adventurer. Had it next day for $350. I've also bought an oem skylight and other items. Everything in stock at a reasonable price.

every time I've called Winnebago Tech Support a recording is played before I'm connected which states that parts will not be sold directly to consumers but must be ordered through a dealer or service provider. Lichtsinn Motors in Forest City can get you any part you need. Your choice of shipping as well meaning they will send it overnight if need be.

Yes Winnebago making and warehousing their own coach parts is a benefit. Their parts warehouse is the size of 8 football fields. Its an Winnebago employee in-house operation.

For example in 2013 I damaged a metal sewer compartment access door driving off of a ferry on a made in 2007 Winnebago Class C RV. They accepted an order for the access door even though they did not have one in thier 8 football field size parts warehouse in Forest City Iowa. The part was made and painted to original spec in the factory, and shipped out to me in about two weeks after I ordered it.

Winnebago now sells parts to anyone with money. They have a direct line. If the tech support / customer service line recording still says order parts thru dealers then it is out of date.

Winnebago now sells parts, as they were tired of their customers not getting acceptable parts service thru many of Winnebago's dealers. Dealers still sell parts too. Winnebago discounts 10% to members of the Winnebago Loyalty Club, the WIT club. Note there are a couple of dealers who say that they will discount parts more than 10% for parts bought and shipped via phone or web ordering. Google Winnebago Discount Parts to see what's out there.

Winnebago now sells parts direct to anyone and has a staff of 3 experienced parts specialists who answer a direct line and help research and locate the exact part needed when needed. You can also research online to locate an exact part and part no. Winnebago Product Information. This includes online 2D and 3D parts viewers that work on Windows XP, 7, and 10 operating systems computers if you install the required Internet Explorer Web Browser Plug-ins, the download links are there on the website.

The Winnebago Parts Direct Line is 1-641-585-6395

I just ordered latches for the wardrobe drawers. No problem and the gal was extremely helpful and nice. They were also cheaper than Camping World who had the same part, not specifically Winnebago but generic. I also ordered fabric awhile ago from them with no trouble. I called the parts line and got right through and this was during GNR week!
