Unhappy Winnebago slideout problem

We have a 2004 Winnebago Sightseer 30B with one driver side slide. The slide has stopped working and the error code on the controller indicates:
"No Encoder Signal detected on front actuator (faulty encoder/harness)". Because the unit is 13 years old the encoder motor is not made anymore. I spent 1/2 a day calling all over the nation trying to locate a new one, and when that failed I tried RV salvage yards....still no luck.
The part: Kwikee (Power Gear Encoder Assembly, part #7200055) is still on a few parts websites but when I called they don't have any & won't be getting anymore.
Anyone have any ideas?????

Have you actually confirmed its not a harness/connection issue?

My leveling system gave me a similar warning from a sensor. In my case it turned out to be a bad connection, as when I disconnected/reconnected the sensor to test the wire it worked fine after.

I would follow Oregonsteve's advice and then find an electric motor repair shop if you can't solve it his way. I take my tractor electrics in to be rebuilt, it tends to be 60% less $$$$ anyways. I double checked your web leads and they all said they were out of stock.
