2011 Adventurer does not list any Workhorse Chassis as standard equipment or option. The Ford gasoline chassis is the only one listed up to 24K pounds of GVW.

I expect that the absence of the 8.1L Vortec gasoline engine has set this theme at Winnebago Industries in regard to Workhorse.

I am disappointed for those folks that would have preferred to have the Workhorse chassis. Let's hope to see a gasoline engine develop soon from the WCC skunk works.

Also absent is an option for the FCCC FRED and the WCC W20D front engine diesels throughout both lines.

They only have brochures going back to 2006 now. That's a shame, people with older units bought used had a great resource in those older brochures.
Wiring diagrams still go back to 1990 though which is a good thing.

The inside word is Workhorse doesn’t have a gas engine that meets 2010 emission requirements, current 8.1L doesn’t comply. Looks like they wouldn’t have anything until Jan of 2011

Quite a few more full wall slides, I see. Gotta keep DH away from that site, he really likes the roomy-ness those big slides give.

Lori,
Show him the post I did about that big slide becoming discombobulated pulling the bed rail pedestal completely off the flooring. Not a good situation at all. To do it all again I'd go for the quad slide system.

I was under the impression that emission standards were based on group numbers. Perhaps they could dump another vehicle??

Just checked the previous model year brochure link in the sticky at top of this forum entrance page and it still works.
I haven't been able to find a link on the new Winnebago web site to it but apparently they still have the info there .

I know they have discontinued basement air and are using rooftop units. However, the exterior views of the new rigs show no AC's on the roof. Guess they chopped them out of the images to give a more streamlined look. That is a bit misleading, IMO. At one time, they used the residential basement AC/heat pump as a selling point.

No it is simply that GM stopped making the 8.1. Rumor is that Ford will stop producing the V10 soon also. I think mpg numbers on those engines probably played a bigger role in their past or imminent demise.

FYI
DEARBORN, Mich., July 6, 2010 – Ford Motor Company’s class-exclusive truck offerings will extend to medium-duty chassis cabs with the arrival of the 6.8-liter V10 gas engine in 2012. With this addition, Ford will be only manufacturer to offer a gas-powered vehicle in Class 1-7, offering a lower-cost option in each segment.

Looks like the Ford V10 will be around for awhile.
