I have a 2007 Winnebago Adventurer 38 J. I want to install a CB for an upcoming caravan. What have others experienced in the wiring? Mounting the antenna and type? Is the wiring already located in the windshield post and up to the roof? Where is the best place to locate continuous power that is not disconnected when shutting the engine down. What brands have been the best and reliable? Antennas, too?

I recommend FireStick NGP antenna. No Ground Plane. CB Radios, Antennas and Accessories - CB Radios Plus

is one location for these antennas. They do not require a truck with outside metal skin. Can be mounted on mirror on side of truck. As for wiring, I find with 12v test light a hot all the time wire and a hot with ignition and attach to an on/off/on switch so I can power the CB. On one way makes the CB work when engine is not running and on the other way makes CB work when engine is running. I get these switches at AutoZone or Radio Shack. Hope that helps.............ronspradley

Many CBs come with NOAA weather channels. Put that on your list.

Tom ... Most Winnebagoes are "pre-wired" for CB. On my 2003 that included a cheap CB antenna on the roof, but they deleted the antenna at some point so your '07 may not have it. The electrical wiring is normally in a plastic bag to the left of the driver's left foot ...behind a kick panel, stuffed up in to the dash, etc. Mine was NOT powered when the ignition is turned off, and my oem setup would be normal. I did later swap to another power lead ("extra" wire I found under the dash) that is powered all the time. Another way to power it would be like I did my HAM mobile unit ...ran wiring to the compartment below the driver and out through a grommet directly to the battery connections for the generator (up front on my coach). If you do that you need to add an inline fuse to both positive and negative leads, or at the very least to the positive.

The Firestick NGP is a good antenna for fiberglass rigs. I know of many who have mounted it to the side wall near the driver position.
