We also belong to FMCA, but the "local" group has more than 300 members! If only 1/3 of them show up at any given meeting, that's a lot of people.
Over the years my wife and I have belonged to several social groups, and served as officers in many of them. Given that human nature is what it is, and with this many people, there are bound to be cliques. Pesonally, I'd rather be a member of a small group where everyone is the "clique, than in a larger one consisting of constantly competing smaller groups.
My only complaint about WIT is that members tend to do more for WIT than WIT does for it's members.

Been a WIT member since 1977. Been to GNRs ever since. We have made many friends in the state and local clubs as well as nationally.
WIT is like most clubs - they are as good as YOU help make them. If you don't like the way things are done then volunteer to make the difference - it worls!

My wife, Peg, and I are WIT members since 2003 which is when we bought our 1990 Elandan. We've enjoyed the state rallys as well as our local chapter in the greater Vancouver, BC, area.

My wife and I have been members since 1999
We have attended three WIT rallies:
New York City - 2001
Washington DC - 2003
Mardi Gras - 2005
we had a really great time at all three ... and we still visit friends that we made at the 2001 rally ...
We have attended GNR twice ... each time after we bought a new coach ... we found the seminars to be very beneficial in learning how to maintain and use our coaches

We all know campers are the best folks you can find and what better way to get to know them than to camp together. When you join a local chapter you are not tied down to attending every mothly campout, but if it fits your schedual you will have a great time. We have made some good friends and learned so much from talking about our motor homes, campgrounds, and places to see over the past three years. When you plan a trip look in the WIT magazine and try to find a local chapter meeting that is on your route, call and let them know you would like to visit and you will be welcomed and blessed, Check out our State Web site. gawit.com Lots of fun and the cost for membership is peanuts. Safe Travels. Jim Bob

Is there an average age of WIT members?
I am semi-retired and a bit younger than most folks in my position...Will still join WIT,even after my free year, just curious about the age makeup for the gatherings...

It is hard to establish an average age for gatherings as it varies by the location and type of gathering. The Grand National - in Forest City has a wide range of ages. They have things for the little kids up through the teens as well as entertainment and seminars for us older folks.
The local and state clubs gatherings frequently are varied by who shows up at the time and even time of year.

Then there's also a Military Group of WIT named MILWIT. Members of the MILWIT club are Members of WIT, Those persons who are active duty / reserve members of the Armed Forces. -or-
Those persons who are retired, with or without pay, from any of the Armed Forces. -or-
Widows or Widowers of persons eligible above.
Members must have a military identification card.
Application for membership in the club may be requested in writing from an official of the club or by joining at one of our meetings.
It's a great group!
