This is for anyone who has had the experience of replacing the peel and stick tile in their coach with wood flooring. I have a 2003 36ft Horizon with two slides; bedroom and kitchen/living room. On the bottom of the kitchen/living room slide are two rollers that are approximately 8-inches long that roll on the tile floor as the slide is extended and retracted. I suspect they are more for stability than being weight bearing. The tile will be removed and replaced with 3/8-inch engineered wood. The result is a floor that will be 1/4-inch thicker. Where the rollers meet the wood and roll up onto the wood I am going to have the wood beveled to facilitate the transition. However, with the slightly thicker floor the retracted slide will be slightly "nose up". I have talked to my RV mechanic who has extensive experience with Winnebago products and he believes that I will not have any problems. Does anyone on the forum have any other experience/thoughts on whether or not I may have problems

I put a wood floor in the 5th wheel I traded in. As long as the slide doesn't mar the surface of the wood, you should have no problems. The gasket around the slide opening is usually about an inch thick, so any minor variance should be absorbed by the gasket. In a worse case senario, a minor adjustment on the slide would solve the problem.

I loved the look of the wood floor in the fiver, and will probably replace the existing carpet in my rig if it starts to show wear.

My Sightseer has a bar on the front of each slide instead of rollers according to Winnebago customer service. When they install hard flooring they use a bar with carpet on the bottom.
I plan to install Pergo and am having the Winnebago factory install the new bars when I am there for some other work in late August. I think they will also make a slight adjustment to clear the transition piece.
