We will be going to the GNR this year, any tips or things will should know about as we plan for the trip? I did read that you can check in early at the campground.
Thanks.

oldpa,
Consider arriving early in the week before the GNR officially starts so as to get in on the activities the good folks in the town of Forest City have to offer. There are ice cream socials and almost every civic group and church has some kind of feed put on one day or another.
On the saturday preceding the opening of the GNR there is a big parade celebrating the town's "Puckerbrush Days."
You really will enjoy what the townspeople put on for their guests.
WIT also has local tours scheduled for that week to various points of interest.
Go early and have fun.

Last year was my first GNR. It's awesome to see so many RV's in one spot. I recommend going to as many seminars as you can the first year as it's a good way to learn about your Winnie. Also try to sign up for plant tours if any left. Leave time to socialize with members from your state and have a good time at the State row parties on Tuesday night. JG

...and if you want any service items done by the factory while you are there, go over to Winnebago and sign up as soon as you can after arrival. If you get your appointment before the GNR starts, it will be easier getting out and back into your parking spot!! ...and you may be able to get a second appointment if needed (you have a limit or 7 or 8 items each time).

The plant tours mentioned by Ding-a-ling are far more informative than those available to the general public and at other times of the year. The groups are smaller and can actually see how the coaches are constructed.
Have fun. We have been going for about 20 years and still having fun!

Just heard that the Florida Winniegators are going to raffle off an Garmin NUVI 350 so stop by the Florida row at GNR and get a ticket. I don't believe they have been assigned to a row yet but when I find out I will post. Good Luck...

On the first day it can be a bit of a traffic jam so be prepared. Be prepared to pay for your extra days. I always get a kick out of the people preparing to leave on Friday when rally ends. You may stay a few extra days free of charge but to some it is like a race to be first. Slow down, relax and enjoy.
