I hope I don't offend anyone, but in looking through a few of the WIT groups they seem to be mostly older members. As a younger family with two kids I was curious if I accurate in my initial look or if I am missing something? My wife and I have been part of several rig rallies, from PopUps to Travel Trailers, but most had a number of young kids. Thanks.

I understand your concern. Here in VA there are 6 clubs. Our particular club is made up of several age groups. We have members in their 30's and a couple in their early 70's. The last couples that joined felt the same way when we invited them to one of our events. They thought they would come to be polite, but they ended up joining and they are the same age as our oldest son! I don't know if you have a number of chapters to choose from in your area, but sometimes it pays to check them out. One of our members has 12 yr old twins and some of us bring the grandkids at times. If you go to GNR you will see all ages, so I know they are out there.

We are the youngest members of our chapter, but have had a blast camping with our chapter, the other chapters in Virginia, and all the WIT members at GNR. We hope some day we will be able to call new members "The Kids".

We tried the California rally, and were disappointed by the age of the members. We did go on the PuertoPenasco WIT caravan and found a group closer to our age. (50's and 60's). FMCA has many family oriented rallies.

One of the nice parts of being around more experienced members is that they have made the mistakes that you could make or have experienced the problems that you might have. And, they or someone near them, will have the answer. My "I'll never go elsewhere rv mechanic" came to me that way. I would never have found him on my own. I have several more episodes from our 3+ years, but you get my gist.....

Y ...

There are people of all ages at GNR ... matter of fact there is a complete activities program for the youth ... several activities away from the rally grounds are provided as well as activites in Forest City ...

We have been on several rallies and one caravan ... on each of these the participants have all been over 50 ... it certainly is not by design ... my guess is that the folks over 50 sign up first and get all the slots ...

We are on the younger end also. I think alot of folks on the forums are retirees and or full-timers. My husband and I still work, and only travel during my duaghters school breaks. She is now 16, and we have moved up from a 24 class c to a 30 ft. A, cause the C was too small for the three of us and the dog.. We are also into dry camping in the deserts of Southern California where we ride quads.

We are pushing 50 and there are younger couples/families in our chapter of 30 rigs or so. Quite often grandkids come to outings. What I see (and appreciate) is the kids listening and learning from the life experience of their elders.

When I joined our chapter four years ago I had just turned fifty. I would say I was in the lower third of the age range now I am getting closer to the median.
