Battery Groups

Have a 98 Itasca Suncruiser which I brought used. Looking at batteries(3) total, one is auto battery, two are deep cell group 24. I need a new battery and was wondering if I can go up to group 27 or 29. Is it ok to mix groups and is there any benifit going up. Thanks in advance for any incite.

Benefit of moving to a larger battery is more amps - they last longer.
Can you mix? Technically, yes, it won't blow anything up, but they'll charge in different rates, discharge at different rates, and won't balance as well - not recommended.

Generally in a configuration like that the starting battery is.... A starting battery and the Group 24's are the worst possible choice for House batteries.

Consider replacing the two Group 24's in parallel with a pair of GC-2 in series (They are taller but should fit the pan) Make sure you have the head room

Two GC-2 is like 3 Group 24,, plus they are deep cycle (Which makes for better house batteries)

And yes you can mix 12 volt batteries no problem
(Two six volt GC-2 in series = 1 12 volt ... Roughly a 4D Think of them as such for all but carrying to/from motor home).
