WIT Caravan (New England) 2016

Good Evening. New (to us) 2013 33C Sightseer. We are in Gulf Shores and loving our Winnie. Have registered for GNR in July and for New England Caravan in September.
Question #1. The CB issue when on the trip, range needed? I would prefer the small handheld Midland with the rubber ducky if this is sufficient. Reasons, A. No outside antenna B. Other uses. But having never been on caravan is this for simple comm. among travelers.

Question #2. Has anyone used the 5 Star tuning chip and what are the real advantages. My biggest complaint is the F53 wants to downshift at the slightest hill. Don't like this so I do not use cruise on hills.

TIA
