WIT membership rules

One issue that bothers me about the WIT club is the membership requirements. It makes sense to require you to have a Winnebago/Itasca/Grand Design to join WIT.

However, once you have joined and made friend with members - if you buy a new/different rig and it is another brand - too bad - we don't want you anymore.

We love our rig, but Winnebago does not make anything anymore that we like. So if we were to buy a new/new to us rig, it would probably be from another vendor.

This is unfortunate, as we like the Winnebago support, but also like the other WIT club members.

We recognize that WIT is part of the marketing arm of Winnebago, but we also PAY to be a WIT member. The "benefits" we receive from the national are duplicated by most other national clubs such as FMCA, Good Sam, Escapees, etc; so there is no real benefit there. The comradery of the local clubs is the real benefit, as we already belong to the other organizations..

My DW and I met through a singles sailing club. They have a rule that once married, you can remain, but no longer hold office or vote. They also do not allow you to rejoin if you leave. Very reasonable rules. WIT needs to get with the times and allow former Winnebago owners to legally remain in the WIT club without skirting the rules.

Winnebago are you listening?

I really doubt W is listening. If you are truly concerned, write WIT leadership a letter of concern expressing your desire for change. The written word can be powerful.
