Headlight lenses are yellowing. Does any one know a fix? Anyone know what lights are used on the 02 dsdp? Any info appreciated.

dbradley, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experieinces. There is a product one can purchase at the auto parts stores to clean and polish out the yellowing lenses. It is pretty much an ulta fine rubbing compound and polish for plastic. I got some from a NAPA store a year os so ago.
I know you will enjoy this website. Good luck and keep us posted on your fix.

dbradley,
I had the same problem with my 1997 MADP. I used Meguiars PLASTIX. This product is made for this. I picked it up a Wal-Mart.
I tried it on a small area - it did well so I did one of my lenses. I repeated it about three times and it took about 15 minuets per side. It sure made a big difference removing the yellow and clearing the lenses.
Good luck with it.

Good Topic
Would the Meguiars Plastix work on the red tail lights and amber signal lights? Mine are showing the effects of the AZ sun - but they prefer that to the AB snow and cold!!!!!?

I have only tried the platix on the headlights, so I can't answer that. I would suggest that you try it on a small spot on one of them and see how it works for you.

You have a couple of options...

1) Replace the lens with new ones. Look real close on the lens for a TYC-xxxx number. Now search the Internet and you may find that your lens came of a FORD product like my gasser.

2) If the yellow is on the outside you can use 400 and 600 grit wet sand paper to remove the yellow color. Next polish the lens with "Plastic" buffing compund and a buffing pad.

Just used Plastix on all my lights both head, tail and signal. This is a good product all surfaces now look bright and much newer than their age. Thanks for the tip!!!

walkingplow,
Glad it worked for you, I was very happy with it also. I plan on using it once a year on the RV to keep them looking good.

Thanks to all who responded regarding the yellowing headlights. Guess they were to gone for polishing. I tried and it didn't work. Looked everywhere trying to cross reference the headlights. TYC205859 and 5860. No luck. Had to but new. Got them from Coach Light RV in Missouri (800) 799-7444. $50 @ lense cheaper than Newmar. Hopefully the wife won't have to walk in front with flashlight!!! :-)
