I'm not sure I understand the problem.
Does it not move at all?
Does it start to move then quit?
Does it stop in the middle someplace?

What year MH?
On our 2002 DSDP the switches light up when activated, do yours do that all the time or only when it works correctly?
Have you checked the wiring to be sure all connections are tight?

It sounds like you could have a loose wire in the switch. If the problem was beyond the switch voltage would be going thru the switch as long as it is pressed even if the slide doesn't move.

Do you have manual or automatic electric locks on your slides?

Theres a current sensing adjustment on the outside of the controler. I believe you turn it to the left to increase the current. It acts as a drop out when it hits the stops. I've an Essex and my contollers are two sided taped to the frame rails. Sometimes the locks don't work right and there is an adjustment for them under the controller cover. Sometimes you can switch the two contollers with each other and the if the other slide don't work you know its in the controller.
See if this is the controler you have

If your using your batteries to close slides they maybe weak.
Have you the same problem if coach is plugged in on shore line?
