Camping this weekend, steps would retract and extend with the door closing or opening and the switch in either position. After messing with it for awhile I turned the key on to the first position towards start and then back off. Opened the door with the step switch in the down position (red hidden) and step stayed out as it should have. I am thinking ground somewhere needs cleaning. Does anyone have an electrical schematic of switch, door, keyless entry pad and steps?

The steps are controlled by two separate circuits - one with the ingnition off and one with the ignition on. There is a labeled fuse in the front drivers side compartment for one circuit and a fuse in the electric bay compartment for the other circuit. In the rear bay you need to remove the cover over the electric stuff and you will find a fuse on a pigtail labeled "steps."

Norm: I forgot to mention that I pulled the fuse from the fuse panel street side under driver and there was no change at all in the response of the steps.
