We were visiting Leisure Time RV in Mary Ester, FL and found that they have four new 06 Essex's, and are wanting to move them.
We have an 05 DSDP 4009, and love it, but for potentially less than the price of a 07 or 08 MA we can be in an Essex. We understand the differences. Thoughts?
Any idea as the how much of a discount should we expect?

My guess would be at least 30% off list but closer to 40%. It is a TWO YEAR OLD Essex as soon as you take possession.

There are some who have opined that when Newmar raised the bar and built the 07 high line coaches with Comfortdrive, etc., that the 07 and thereafter Mountain Aire coaches became the equivalent of the 06 and previous Essexs. Take an objective look at the two and see if the 06 Essex would have all that the 07 or 08 Mountain Aire provides... if so, you have your answer, but I will bet some of the MA owners are going to debate you on this.
I realize you are asking about the percentage of discount you might expect; but I thought I would give you a different perspective.

One would have to wonder if they really were being aggressive to move these units, why they still have them. They may have a couple in Pensacola too.
I personally know of a couple who tried to buy one of these units and couldn't make a deal. They ended up buying a '07 at the Tampa Supershow for less $$$$$!!!!!

Over the years, I have been shocked that dealers (generally) refuse to sell their units below what they paid for them regardless of how old they are. I think you may run into this when trying to negotiate for one of these 2006 "leftovers".
Another option would be to look for a 2007 model. In Florida, Independence has a few and so does North Trail. After all, with the 2008 models in full production, I am quite sure they would be willing to offer pricing very close to what you can buy a 2006 for. They need to get rid of these and stock 2008 models!
In the 2007 essex model you will get comfort drive and the new body style, etc. Even though the 2007 list prices are up a little over the 2006, many items that were options in 2006 are standard in 2007.
IMHO, I think you will be better off with the 2007 Essex or a 2007 Mountain Aire for that matter!

I tried to purchase a new coach from Leisure Tyme this year and they only offered 19% off invoice after negotiations. They were not competitive. Might not be dealing very well and that explains the remaining 06 units.

I agree with you Nathan, after hours of negotiations for their best deal I made a 10 minute call to an out of state dealer and beat their price by $25k. That's a lot of money when they all pay the same price for them.

Aloha RV in New Mexico beat them by 25K too. Funny that we got the same number.

Thanks for all of your thoughts.
After much consideration, we'll probably order a unit with all of the bells & whistles we want rather thn settle second best...
