Anyone know the procedure for removal of the bedroom slideout gearbox in the essex coach. I have removed the four screws holding the motor/gear box to the frame, but the shaft will not slide out. Do I need to remove the entire assembly including the entire shaft and gear to replace the gearbox? We are at least 150 mile from the nearest Newmar repair facility and thought that I would R&R the gear box as our slide with not go out or in. Thanks for your comments.

look for the one and one half inch nut on the shaft. it may have the clutch inside that when loosened will allow you to separate the shaft.?? my 1996 ksdp has them but the design may have changed for yours.

Tommy,
Thanks for the help, the 1 1/2 nut originally would not back off more than 1/4 round. Had to get 24" cresent to back it off. Once I did this the shaft disconnected from the motor as you indicated. Thanks, now I just hope I can get a replacement. The gearbox did have a tooth broken on the large gear.
