My family and I are very excited. We pick it up Friday and immediately are traveling from the Buffalo area through Canada to the Frankenmuth, Michigan Jellystone Park for the shakedown cruise.
I have had Newmar envy since fall of 2003 which would be two months after I bought a Fleetwood Discovery as my first "coach".
This may sound crazy, but, I don't know what I'm going to do with all that space under the raised rail.
I don't know what I'm going to do to kill time if I'm not fixing or replacing something every day.
I don't know how I'll get my exercise if I don't have to go lean on the slide out in while my wife holds the button and I yell at her for doing it wrong. (It got so bad, I actually had to ask two guys to help at Disney this past year)
My wife will miss putting down and taking up the duct tape at every stop where the slide out rests so it doesn't leave a grease mark on the floor while driving.
We will miss the "magic fingers" feel in the "coach" when the amazingly out of level high rpm washer/dryer was running on spin cycle. Since we have two small children, this was all the freakin' time!
I don't know how I'll get used to not having to have the "bra" on the front so the the generator compartment cover doesn't vibrate at 100db above 50 mph.
How will I call it camping if I don't have to get out the space heaters when its cold because the furnace only works 1/3rd of the time?
I don't know how to deal with the boredom when I don't have to figure out that the thermostat sensors are reversed in the two zones so that when the back gets too hot or cold the front A/C/heat kicks on and vice versa.
My workout will take a serious hit when I don't have to lean into a third of the compartment doors while releasing the latch just to get them to open.
Where will our discipline be tested when the relentless squeaking TV in the front compartment isn't giving us that "nails on a chalk board" sound for 300 straight miles.
How will my perception skills be honed when the auto "leveler" says were level and I know darn well we're not? I know this because the leaking water from underneath kitchen slide is running across the floor to the other side of the "coach" at a high rate of speed.
How will I break the boredom of night driving when there isn't a 50% chance that when I hit the switch the lights will go out or actually go to brights?
Finally, my family will miss the excitement of guessing when the slide out cabinet extension will extend itself on a right hand turn.
FYI, this is all true along w/about 50 other items on our 2004 Discovery.
We sincerely look forward to being in the Newmar Family. I will endeavor to be like Bob Gregory in all trials and tribulations of my new coach, which I'm confident there will be few.

I guess in the spring when I start looking at used pushers I`ll have to avoid the Discovery`s on the lots. Good luck with your new coach, you`ll love it and you should find that any problems will be taken care of by Newmar.

I think you'll be making a big mistake !!!!
I had a Discovery for 6 yrs and after the first years stuff, which by the way that I'm presently going through with my Dutch Star (18 items just worked on at factory - two unsolvable to date problems left and paint chipped after it was re-painted are still on the list and scheduled back to factory next year) it preformed beautifully for 80,000 miles in tough duty mostly in western mountains. You will find that FW sends technicians to rallies and fixes even problems long out of warranty and gives significant financial and other support to the Discovery Owners Association, Inc and FMCA Discovery International. I am still active in Discovery affairs (the CO Chapter of DOAI has made me an alumni and thus invite me to all rallies - I just attended one in Chama, NM.) You would find if you check that the motorhome gives a lot of value for its price. I'd proably still be a Discovery owner if FW hadn't standardized on CAT engines a couple of years ago. I understand they are going to correct that mistake next year on the Discovery's as they have all ready done on the American Coach's. Its not that Newmar is bad -don't get me wrong. Its that even though I could afford nearly anything I want I look at function, asthetics and value and I still believe Discovery is at or at least near the top of the list when these factors are combined.

javajelly, can't wait to hear more of your experiences with the new coach...CONGRATS!
Thanks for the compliment and the only advice I can give you is to realize that no matter what happens to your coach, it's JUST stuff!!
Remember....no matter what ANYONE tells you, I am PROOF that you get more with honey than salt...
All you'll get with screaming and yelling is an ulcer and someone that's nrevous to speak with you....I recommend you do everything you can to keep ALL avenues of communication open with those folks that can help you.

I'll only comment on what I've seen and heard firsthand since being here in Nappanee...
Most of the techs from Newmar were in fact apparently in attendance in Essex Junction at the Owner's Rally....Winnebago does the same thing, although since the rally is in fact in Forest City they don't travel far...
NO brand bashing here, just a point of clarification.

Well congrads on your new rig. If you want to be like Bob Gregory, you will have big shoes to fill. Though I've both e-mailed and phone spoke to Bob, I only met him face to face today. Quite a guy. Truely a gentleman and a hard act to follow.

javajelly, Welcome to the Newmar family and Congratulations on buying your 07 Newmar, you missed a wounderful Newmar International Rally about three weeks ago in Essex Junction, Vermont, maybe next year. I'm not saying you won't have some problems but hopefully none like occured with your previous coach, give the coach a through shake down trip and enjoy.
Also take advantage of several Newmar Chapters in your area get involved with one or several, nothing can stop you now! Ed.S

Hi Javajelly! Congrats on your new coach. We had a 2006 DSDP before we moved up. You are going to love it. The new one piece windshield really makes it nice, among all the other great features. What color inside and out did you buy? Paul

We got Cider outside and inside. I gave into the DW on this one but, after having seen it, I'm glad I did.
As a note, I got the three A/C's. The two front are painted in the burgandy color and the rear one is in the tan/beige coler which flow w/the coach graphics. Very cool.
