07 DSDP 4304 Maintenance Schedule - Summarized

Being a Type A geek w/plenty of time while factory camping over the past month, I reviewed all my manuals and made a composite maintenance schedule for my Dutch Star.

It has an every 6 month check and what to do to the chassis and coach systems every year out to year 6. I would be happy to email it to anyone who asks.

It is long so I didn't think it was appropriate to post. Let me know if that would be better.

Are you still having a problem with your moicrovave vent rattling? I am. I also found that by lowering my driver side window about two inches the rattle stops...that's the good news the bad news is too cols to leave it down.
My coach is back in the shop trying to get items listed on my 1 year status worked off. Coach is now 15 months in my posession and the warranty folks seem to be skittish...hopefully I get the approval Monday for work completion

Had to take it back to Newmar as the Microwave started rattling again. This time they put silver cloth tape around the vent flapper and it seems to have worked. It has lasted for about 600 miles.

Not sure what that tape is called but, I'm sure you've seen it. It is not duct tape but, shimmery silver.

Here you go. Let me know if you find any errors. Please note, I have a HydroHot and a one piece roof. I also have a Splendide W/D.
I do have the new Allison transmission gold filters and Transynd fluid so didn't have to do a filter change or top off at 5,000 miles.


Completed Chassis Maintenance:
2/28/07 - 5,000 miles:
5,000 mile maintenance at Spartan - Including weighing, ride height, alignment
New shocks (30%)
New tag axle
All new tires
Loosened hubs on drive axle and replaced bearing per TSB
Generator oil & filter change at Spartan - 48 hours
Remounted Hangars and Jacks at Newmar

Every month:
Charge batteries
Run generator under 50% load for 2 hours
Check tightness of generator/HydroHot tailpipes
Operate dash A/C

Spring & Fall:
Chassis:
Pull lanyards - Silver, Green, then Red per Spartan
Check fuel water separator
Check air intake gauge
Check engine oil
Transmission oil
Engine Coolant
Coolant leaks at engine
Air piping and cooler
Check fuel injection pump mounting
Check air Compressor mounting
Check air filter indicator
Check shocks for leaks
Spray out radiator
Axle wheel bearings oil level
Check battery levels and cable connections
Equalize batteries - Fall only

Exterior:
HydroHot coolant level
Check generator oil & coolant level
Check Jack fluid level - 1" below top of reservoir
Lubricate entrance steps - step manual says no
Check fisheye mirror location
Change water filter
Lubricate exterior door hinges and latches w/graphite (silicone) lubricant
UV inhibitor on slide out seals - 303 protectant
Check all light operation - Headlights, brake lights, ucc markers, turn signals, security/dock lights, porch light, handle, understep, inside step, basement, engine compartment
Apply 303 Aerospace Protectant www.303products.com or Protect All www.protectall.com
Clean roof - Fall only
Sanitize system (pg 7:6) - Fall only
Wax - Fall only


Interior:
Check Smoke, CO2, LP filters, Fire extinguisher replace batteries in fall
Clean cold air return filters
Refrigerator operation
Clean hood exhaust fan filter
Check all receptacles - test GFCIs
Check fan operation
Check awning operation
Run Hot cycle on washer/dryer w/2 cups of a non-precipitating water conditioner. Run empty.
Clean detergent dispenser
Clean filters on water inlet hoses
Check Washer/Dryer Pump
Check all lights


1 Year Maintenance/15k - 2/08
1 year chassis maint
Cummins:
Oil change
Check air filter indicator - Should last two years
Change fuel filter
Check coolant for color
Batteries, cables & connections
Drive belts, fan hub belt, cooling fan tensioner
Generator - every year or 150 hours:
Change Oil & Filter
Clean Spark Arrestor
Change Air Filter
Tune up HydroHot Diesel Burner - New fuel nozzle, fuel filter, clean combustion chamber
Clean batteries w/diluted solution of baking soda and water.


2 Year Fridge maint. - 10/08 - to get 3rd year warranty

2 Year Maintenance - 2/09
1 year chassis maint
Every 2 yrs/30k
Service Air Dryer
Drain hydraulic reservoir, replace the internal filter element, and refill reservoir
Cummins:
Oil change
Change Air filter
Change fuel filter
Check coolant for color
Batteries, cables & connections
Drive belts, fan hub belt, cooling fan tensioner
Generator - every year or 150 hours:
Change Oil & Filter
Clean Spark Arrestor
Change Air Filter
Flush Coolant System - 2 years or 500 hours
Replace Coolant Pressure Cap
Tune up HydroHot Diesel Burner - New fuel nozzle, fuel filter, clean combustion chamber

Inspect propane system - factory

3 Year Maintenance - 2/10

Add coolant extender fluid

Where are these? I guess it's to purge the water in the air system???

Up near the front near the center but closer to the passenger side I believe. Best technique is to use the awning rod. I haven't done it yet as Spartan took care of it for me.

Spartan said some customers never do it. They actually took a couple of quarts of water from one guys coach.

I wonder why they state to change the air filter every 2 years? It should depend on how many miles and the conditions (dirty,dusty,etc,) the MH is driven.

Sorry, I should have explained this, 2 years is not in any manual. Spartan said the yellow indicator in the rear isn't always dependable. It is based on the highest level of suction at any point. I have a 43' w/the Cummins 400hp turbo. He said that when I pull big hills the suction really goes up.

My indicator is already past 50% at only 5,000 miles. That doesn't mean I'm over 50% of the way to a new filter but, that I had a big load on the engine at one point and it created a lot of suction.

Spartan told me that the filter should last me at least 2 years unless I was driving in really dusty conditions.

Nice work - I did a fast run run through and noticed that the addition of extender for coolant is not called out at three years/300k as far as I can see.
