OK gang....Just received this HUGE box from Newmar and for a second, with everything else going on, FORGOT what could possibly in it...

When I opened the box I found the fuel filter cover, two knobs and one straight bracket piece.
I might figure this out when I get out there, but on the surface the threads of the knobs appear too large to go through the holes in the countersunk metal piece...

Anyone been through this yet?

My DSDP came with the bottom bracket, star lock washers, and fender washers. The knobs have not loosened one bit.......so far.

Maybe you have a different configuration on the Essex.

I'll have to go out and look, but by your description I'm thinking the holes in the bracket are to screw it to the coach side, then the cover rests in the lip the bracket creates and...

I then swing the cover up and screw the new knobs into the provided studs that I'll have to tap into place....

Sound like a plan?

On my DSDP, the bracket is on the bottom, and the cover rests on that, so it will not fall off if the knobs work loose and fall off.

Got dark too quickly so I'll save this one for tomorrow...

Looks like the bracket will need to be screwed into the coach, will check that out.

My first one broke while on the road. Thank goodness for bungy cords and c clamps. When I replaced the cover, I fastened a few c clamps around the edge to keep it in place if it cracks again around the the knobs.

Looks like the knob that came loose is stripped out,so I'm going with plan B and adding some bolts and nuts to this thing....What a crappily (new word) designed cover.

Finished this job last evening...
I had some quarter inch bolts with flat and lock washers and nuts in the bin so I ditched the knobs...

Forgot to mention that when Carl called to check on the belt guard I TOLD HIM about my little "fix" for those poorly designed knobs and he said with all the cover failures they've had he was going to push that suggestion along...

All the "first prize money" I win for the "suggestion of the year" will be converted to the purchase of spirits for Newmar Owners at the next rally as this certainly was a group effort...

(No "real" prize to my knowledge...it's a joke!)
