We are on a trip currently and today we set up camp and leveled the rig as usual. All the slide outs opened fine except curbside bedroom; I can see that the bottom of it is pushing open, but the top won't budge. I didn't want to force the issue and damage anything. I went up on the roof and the topper seems fine. I had a similar issue about a year ago and it resolved after scrubbing clean the slider topper which seemed occluded with sap. I don't know if that is what happened again, if so, how can i manually unroll the topper or is there another potential that i'm not considering. Thanks for your help.

The toppers do not really have that much spring tension so you should be able to manual roll out a foot or two and try operating the slide. Make sure the slide is not cocked in the opening tho

If your slideout has the type of button where the slide stops as soon as you let go of the button, you can try gently pushing on the top of the slide after opening the bottom 1/2" or so and see if it moves at all. It should open at least some with the additional pressure.
If so you can get a helper to operate the switch while you gently pus the slide to keep it straight. Then you can investigate, maybe it is the sap again.
Of course you have looked for obvious things like slide locks not unlocking, etc. Our BR slide does this when I forget to unlock the manual locks. Don't ask me how I know this .
Good Luck!

Hi humvee4me,
If your coach has manual locks and you do not use them, check the locks any way. I have been called to help owners with the symptom you describe. On several occasions, the rear lock was locked. The owners' mentioned they never use the locks. I suspect the vertical movement of the coach, while moving may allow the lock(s) to close ever so slightly.

Thanks for the responses, the slider topper isn't stuck as I am able to unroll it; I did try manually pushing on the top of the slideout from the inside as slideout switch is activated, but it remains fixed on the top. The rear slideouts don't have any locks that we were ever informed about or used; I am going to call Newmar tomorrow and see what they say.

GaryKD I see you have a Kountry Star too, do you have locks in the rear slideouts on your rig?

Hi humvee4me,
My 05 has slide locks. Your 07 also has slide locks. They are either automatic or manual operation. A lock will keep the top of the slide from opening. This is because the motor provides power from the bottom of the slide. All slides will have the same kind of lock. To determine which locks you have, look at the front of the slide right behind the driver, when the slide is closed. Is there a two piece bar that goes the entire width of the slide, from the side wall the full width of the slide? The bar will have a pivot point in the middle joining the two pieces. It will be at window height directly behind the driver. If the bar is there you have manual locks.
Automatic locks will look like a square black block at the top of the front and rear of the slide. When the slide is open, look at the front of the slide. Look at the top corner near the outside wall of the slide. Is there what looks like a black square? If this is there, you have automatic locks.
With the manual locks the coach should have come with a uniquely shaped bar. This will allow you to lock and unlock the slides. With the automatic locks there is nothing for you to do.
The bar on the rear of the bedroom slide could have been engaged as the coach moved down the road. You can determine this if you reach between the slide and the rear wall, find the arm and with the tool or your arm, make sure the bar is pushed downward. It should start to form a "V" shape when unlocked. When locked the bar will be completely horizontal. The lock can be operated only when the slide is completely closed.
The automatic locks will be flat against the slide when unlocked. When closed, the locks will pivot out (like Dumbo ears) to the inside of the coach wall. The easiest place to see this is the front slides, behind the driver and passenger seats, when the slide(s) are closed.
Manual or automatic, it is important for the slides locks to be used. When closed and locked the slides become part of the structure integrity for the coach sides as one moves down the road.

Humvee scroll down to bottom of this PDF will explain the locking system you may have on all slides in your coach.
You would not have a combination of Auto and Manual locks.

THANKS SO VERY MUCH
We just got into West Yellowstone and I was able to see on each side the manual locks and sure enough one had somehow locked itself. I easily unlocked it and voila, the slide out went out without any problem. THANKS AGAIN CASE CLOSED

I have the manual locks and in the bed room I only operate the forward lock it pulls the smaller slide in tight.
It is a pain getting over bed and you won't forget the forward one.
Its best not to forget because your night table may pop off the slide face.
