All '07 Newmars are now equipped with momemtary hold to move slide switches. Unlike the previous system of one touch then relay driven, the buttons must be held.

One good thing however is the fact that they are now separately fused. On the predecesor all slides operated through one fuse. This prevented the operation of two at a time which would cause the fuse to blow. The new design allows for multi operation.

After reading many posts regarding slides, and particularly Newmar slides, it seems there may be more to their change than just safety or the ability to operate more than one at a time. Some current owners have experienced slides moving with activation. This presents a safety issue and possibly both coach damage property damage also. It seems moisture may be the culprit that may cause this self activation issue.

Now, I have never had the problem, and I suppose the majority of Newmars owners have not either and probably never will. However this change on Newmar's part seems like a good solution to avoid any future issues.

So those of you that read the specifications and notice this operating description difference, well you might have a better understanding of why this is the way it is, as will new owners.

All in all, I can live with the change and actually will look forward to the multi slide activating.

Yes, I did Ed. That should read "without being activated".

Lug Nut,

The slide switches in my new MADP are constant pressure switches as opposed to momentary switches. As for the curcuitry going through the same fuse, I would have to research that one.

When you say constant pressure I'm assuming you mean you have to continue to hold the switch until the slide movement is complete. That is the way all the '07 are. This change was probable started in '06.

The change to the slide out activation was done on 2006 models after problems developed on the 2005 models when Newmar changed vendors/and or design changes on the 2005 models. Ed.S

Thanks Ed, but I guess the reason for the change is a result of self activation would still be the reason.

Confirming what Dana has already indicated with his '06 4304......Jeff's '06 4304 has the "continuos hold" switches......AND that sexy lady's voice too!!

I'd much prefer Larry the Cable guy in my coach....something like....."HEY SLIDES....GET 'ER DONE!!

Now I don't care who you are....that there was funny!!

Larry you say, are you sure "SHE" doesn't have a cold. You better listen cause that slide will slice into leather seat if not moved.

Wow! Now that would be a great option. The ability to add personality to your coach with downloadable slide warning voices and words.
"Hey dude, move it!" "Attention. There will be a blue light sale on a badly mangeled driver seat in isle 7 if you don't move it." and of course there are some we can't post. I'll leave them to your imagination.

The three Newmars I have had, UP TO 03, I was able to move both slides at the same time each control unit had its own fuse. A momentary spike in power to control unit has been known to activate slide, not to good if they are locked, ask AJBJ.

I have two control buttons but have never attempted to push both at once, mainly because it was outlined in the manual. Later I found out it was as they supposedly operated through one fuse.
